A caller ID notification is a report your CallerID.com device sends to the POS. The device may send the same report more than once. After a POS change, those repeated notifications may appear as duplicate popups.
1. Download ELConfig 5
Download ELConfig 5 for Windows (.msi) — version 5.0.1.75.
It is also listed under CallerID.com → Downloads → Diagnostic Tools → Legacy Tools / .Net Links. This version requires .NET Framework 3.5. Ask your IT contact or CallerID.com Support for installation help. Do not substitute ELConfig 5m.
2. Prepare before making a change
- Use a Windows PC on the same network as the powered-on Whozz Calling Ethernet Link. This brief is not for Vertex/VCT.
- Arrange a quiet time with the POS administrator. The POS caller-ID program may need to be closed briefly so ELConfig can connect.
- Identify the correct device and record its current number of notifications before changing anything.
3. Change the number—with CallerID.com Support
Using ELConfig 5, follow Support’s instructions for your specific device. To reduce duplicate popups, ask Support whether one notification per caller ID report is appropriate for your POS. Do not enter zero or change unrelated settings.
Have Support confirm the number actually saved on the connected device. A default value in a window—or a screenshot from a disconnected program—is not confirmation.
4. Check the results on your POS
Close ELConfig completely, reopen the POS caller-ID program and make two new incoming test calls. Check for one POS entry per call. If duplicates remain, have Support check the POS and any other programs receiving caller ID. If calls stop appearing, ask Support to restore the original setting.
