Implementation Summary

Status Count Percentage

Read/Write (Full) 11 31%

Read Only (Display) 5 14%

Not Implemented 19 55%

Total Parameters 35 100%

Note: Parameter data extracted from official VB.NET source (Mod1.vb - populateSLData function). The web tool fully supports 11 read/write parameters covering core networking and call capture needs. The 19 unimplemented parameters are primarily time/NTP settings and advanced output formatting options that are rarely modified.

3. Suggested Enhancements for Technicians

Priority Enhancement: EEE (Energy Efficient Ethernet) Detection

Many installation issues are caused by EEE signaling conflicts. The Vertex cannot see traffic when connected to devices with EEE enabled.

3.1 EEE Troubleshooting Assistant

Auto-Detection: Check for missing traffic patterns that indicate EEE conflicts

Visual Warning: Display prominent alert when EEE is suspected

Solution Guidance: Recommend inserting unmanaged switch to break EEE signaling

Compatible Device List: Maintain list of known EEE-compatible switches

3.2 Connection Diagnostics Panel

Traffic Flow Indicator: Show real-time traffic on ISP, Phone, and POS ports

Link Status Duration: Display how long each connection has been active

Packet Counter: Show packet counts per port to identify dead connections

Latency Test: Measure round-trip time to Vertex device

3.3 Quick Troubleshooting Wizard

No Calls Received: Step-by-step diagnosis for no call data

Intermittent Calls: Check for EEE, cable quality, power issues

Network Unreachable: Subnet mismatch, DHCP issues, firewall

Configuration Lost: DIP switch positions, factory reset detection

3.4 Installation Checklist Mode

Pre-Installation: Verify network requirements, collect IP info

Physical Setup: Confirm cable connections, Line Duplicator placement

Configuration: Step through all required settings

Verification: Test call flow, confirm data receipt

Documentation: Generate installation report for customer

3.5 Missing Parameters to Add

Parameter Purpose Priority

OUT2 (Call Accounting IP) Secondary destination for call data High

TDS1/TDS2 (Time Servers) NTP server configuration Medium

TIME (Time Offset) Timezone adjustment Medium

DLST (Daylight Savings) DST handling Medium

OPT1 (Slow Start SDP) VoIP compatibility option Low

PRTD (UDP Port) Custom port configuration Low

4. Summary

Current Implementation Status: The web-based Vertex Configuration Tool implements 46% of all parameters (16 of 35), with core networking and call capture settings fully supported. Key gaps are in time/NTP configuration and advanced output formatting options.

New Web Tool Enhancements (Not in Original): Host network detection and WiFi warning

Packet capture with Wireshark export

Subnet verification between host and Vertex

Visual LED/DIP status display with mode interpretation

Cross-platform operation (Mac, Windows, Linux)

WebSocket-based real-time call monitoring

Recommended Next Steps: Add EEE troubleshooting guide and detection

Implement missing time/NTP parameters

Add Call Accounting IP (OUT2) configuration

Create installation checklist wizard

Add firmware update capability (future)
